Payment schedule notifications are no longer fixed and impersonal. We can now edit the messages customers receive when a payment schedule is created or updated. That means every email or SMS can match our brand voice, include clear payment details, and use smart fields so customers get the right information at the right time.
What changed
Previously, the payment schedule received notification was auto-generated and not editable. That created friction when teams wanted to add a personalized touch or use professional formatting. Now those notifications are fully customizable. We can manage templates, add dynamic fields, and control whether messages are sent at all.

Why this matters
Consistent branding. Every message can reflect our tone, logo, and formatting.
Clear customer communication. Dynamic fields allow us to include exact payment dates, amounts, and schedule details so customers aren’t left guessing.
Less noise. We can toggle notifications off when they are not needed and keep the Outbox focused on important messages.
How to customize notifications
Follow these steps inside the Payments area to edit, format, and control payment schedule notifications.
Open Invoices and Estimates settings.
Go to the Invoices and Estimates tab under Payments, then click Settings.

Access Customer Notifications.
Open Notifications and choose Customer Notifications.

Find the payment schedule received notification.
Toggle it on or off depending on whether you want customers to receive it.

Edit the email or SMS template.
Click Manage beside the email or SMS template to customize the message text, formatting, and dynamic fields.

What you can do with templates
Insert dynamic values related to payment schedules so messages include specific dates, amounts, and next due items.
Create separate templates for email and SMS for better formatting and length control.
Keep the Outbox tidy by disabling notifications that aren’t required.
Tips for clear payment schedule messages
Keep it short. State the schedule name, next payment date, and amount up front.
Use dynamic fields. They reduce manual errors and keep messages accurate.
Match tone to your brand. Friendly or formal—pick one and be consistent.
Include contact options. Add a clear call to action for questions or payment issues.
FAQ
Can we edit both email and SMS templates for payment schedule notifications?
Yes. You can manage and edit the email and SMS templates independently by clicking Manage beside each template in Customer Notifications.
Where do we enable or disable the payment schedule received notification?
Open Payments > Invoices and Estimates > Settings > Notifications > Customer Notifications, then locate the payment schedule received notification and toggle it on or off.
What dynamic fields are available for payment schedules?
Dynamic fields typically include schedule name, next payment date, payment amount, and other schedule-specific details. Use them to populate messages automatically.
Will turning off the notification delete past messages?

Final notes
This update gives us complete flexibility over messaging, formatting, and whether to send payment schedule notifications. Use templates and dynamic fields to provide clear, branded communication that reduces confusion and saves time.
